 Dear colleagues,

Another year of pride for this board which I have the honor to chair. When I say a year of pride, I particularly mean the achievements which we accomplished.

This year has been by all measures full of achievements. First we introduced and started to apply the New Norms or the new hotel classification system.

This system was, at numerous occasions, praised by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism which gave all the support to materialize it in a step to enhance the Egyptian tourism product. Moreover, the International Hotel and Restaurants Association (IH and RA) has also recognized this system and recommended that othercountries follow suit as stated in the IH and RA?s annual general assembly meeting in October 2006.

Another achievement, we are proud of, is making WI.FI service available at any point in two pilot cities: Sharm El Sheikh and Luxor. These two cities together account for more than 28.2 percent of the total number of hotel rooms in Egypt.

As well, for the first time in Egypt, the online booking service for all hotels is operational through ourofficial website www.eha.org.eg.

We are continuing to work on a number of other projects for the best interest of our members including a new website with links to Egypt new site www.egypt.travel.com

Finally, I would like to reassure you that this board will continue to make every possible effort to support our industry.
